Expect the half day trips to last 3-4 hours depending on river flows. The full day trips include lunch at the Alberton Gorge ranch and last 6-7 hours.

WHO CAN GO We take guests age 15 and up. You should be in decent physical condition, be able to swim and be very enthusiastic. All guests must sign an assumption of risk form before the trip. Minors must have an parent sign with them. Know that there is inherent risk in any whitewater activity and that we cannot guarantee you safety. There is the possibility of injury or death in any river adventure.
What We Provide All of your equipment, instruction and guides for the trip. Wear a swimsuit that will comfortably fit under a wetsuit.
CONVENIENCE & COMFORT Headquarted right at the Alberton Gorge, our retail shop and 40 acre riverside ranch are convenient for guests and give our guides greater flexibility to accommodate last minute adjustments. When guests arrive, our guides will greet them, outfit them with river equipment, and conduct a pre-trip orientation. Then everyone simply walks down to the river to begin the adventure. After the trip, our vehicles will be waiting at the take-out to shuttle the guests and guides back to our office where they can change inside, relax on our deck, look at photos of their trip, and enjoy some refreshments.
RESERVATIONS A 50% deposit is required for all reservations. Guests can change their reservation up until 48 hours before the trip without risking their deposit. Cancellations within 48 hours of trip departure forfeit their deposit. No shows the day of the trip are charged full price. Groups of 10 or more have 21 days prior to their trip to cancel with no charge. Cancellations within 21 days of departure forfeit their deposit. We run trips daily and can often accommodate last minute reservations.
Getting Here Our Alberton Gorge headquarters is located just off I-90, 30 minutes west of Missoula, Montana or 2 hours east of Coeur d’Alene, ID. Most of our clients fly into Missoula or Spokane. However many guests drive over from Spokane, Washington or Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. It just under 3 hours to Glacier National Park and about 4 and a half hours to Yellowstone.
Directions From Coeur d’Alene Drive East on I-90 approximately 2 hours. Continue past Superior, MT and exit at Fish Creek (Exit 66) off I-90. Turn left at the stop sign off the exit ramp, cross I-90 & the railroad tracks, turn right at the stop sign, and continue eastbound on Old Hwy 10. Go about 3 miles until you see a sign for the Cyr Bridge Fishing Access. Turn right onto Sawmill Gulch Road, go 100 yards and you’ll see the parking lot and river access. The Montana River Guides office is the brick building at the south end of the parking lot next to I-90. *Remember to factor in the time change. We operate on mountain time in Montana, one hour later than Washington and Idaho.
Directions from Missoula to the Alberton Gorge The Montana River Guide's shop is located 30 minutes west of Missoula. From Missoula Drive west on I-90 past Alberton. Take the Cyr Exit, (Exit 70). Take the first left after you cross the bridge (it’s a hairpin turn called Sawmill Gulch Road) to the Cyr Bridge Fishing Access. Go two hundred yards. Our shop is at the south end of parking lot.
