The Ultimate Whitewater Thrill! Riverboarding requires enthusiasm, a basic level of fitness and comfort in the water--but most of all teamwork. Your guide will provide an overview of the day and outfit you with the right equipment at the Alberton Gorge Ranch. We’ll suit you up with a helmet, wetsuit, fins, lifejacket, booties and a riverboard. Everyone should be a solid swimmer and be in good physical condition. You'll have more fun if you are a decent swimmer--it helps to have worn fins before but is not absolutely necessary. Guests must read and sign an acknowledgment of risk form before the trip. You'll be reminded that riverboarding is an adventure and that we can't guarantee your safety. Having noted that, we start each trip with an orientation, safety talk, and practice the basics before running each section of whitewater as a team. ON THE RIVER: After reviewing safety, hand signals, reading water, and practicing basic technique and maneuvers, guests and guides work together to run the river in sections by using the buddy system and helping each other when necessary. Riverboarding allows you to learn how to read water and experience a river the way few other people ever experience it. Your guides describe each rapid before you run it, so you know where to be be where not to be.The pace on the river is relaxed--we tailor the trip to your comfort zone. There's no hurry. We stop periodically to rest and stretch or to surf or hang out along the river in this spectacular canyon. While the whitewater gets your adrenaline pumping, at normal summer flows there are stretches of calm water between rapids to recover, relax and enjoy your surroundings from a face-level perspective. There is no better way to get to know a river and how rivers run than a guided riverboard trip.Just follow your guide to whitewater glory and experience the river like very few people ever get to. HALF DAY TRIP-Offered in the morning , afternoon or evening, the half day riverboard trip runs the main section of the Gorge and lasts about four hours. Well run the rapids and have time to hang out and surf along the way.$85/person FULL DAY TRIP-The full day trip includes either two trips on the main Gorge or running the upper section and the main section. Either way we provide everything you need for an incredible adventure on the river. We replenish our energy part way through the day with a delicious lunch.
